Señora… Open Your Bible

A gentle beginner’s guide to understanding Scripture & meeting God through His Word.

Maybe you love God… but still feel intimidated opening the Bible.

Hermana, this gentle guide was created to help you meet God through His Word without fear, pressure, or shame. As Señora Bible Study has grown, one thing has deeply stood out to me… so many women are hungry for God but afraid they are “behind” when it comes to Scripture.

Some are returning to the Catholic faith after years away, while some are converting to Catholicism for the first time. Some grew up around faith, prayer, candles, novenas & reverence for God… but were never actually taught how to open the Bible slowly and confidently for themselves & many quietly carry shame thinking “I should already know this,” but the truth is, we all begin somewhere.

The Word of God was never reserved for “perfect Christians,” scholars or people who seem to have it all together. It is an invitation to sit with Jesus, to know Him and hear His voice… to allow His Word to slowly transform your heart. So I created this guide as a gentle companion for the woman opening her Bible for the first time & for the woman returning home to it again.

What’s Inside the Guide

Inside this free beginner’s guide you’ll find:

  • What the Bible actually is

  • How to find verses

  • Understanding chapters & verses

  • Why Catholic Bibles have more books

  • How Catholics read Scripture

  • What to do when you feel confused

  • Beginner-friendly Bible study methods

  • Trusted Catholic resources I personally use

  • Encouragement for women returning to faith

This guide was intentionally created to feel warm, approachable & unintimidating. It’s made for you to sit down at the table with a cafecito and enjoy your time reading Scripture.

Why This Matters

I think many women spend years pouring into everyone else while quietly starving spiritually themselves. We carry homes. Children. Grief Responsibilities. Expectations. Culture. Pressure. Heartbreak. Care-taking. Dreams. Fear & in the middle of all of that, Christ still gently says… “Come sit with Me.” Scripture is not meant to become another performance or checklist. It is relationship. It is learning the voice of the One who loves you. Jesus always meets His daughters where they are… this is the beautiful thing… you do not need to understand everything perfectly to begin, He is already meeting where you are.

The Resources I Personally Use

These are a few of the tools I personally return to often when studying Scripture and growing in my Catholic faith:

Daily Mass Readings

USCCB Daily Readings

Study Bible

Ignatius Catholic Study Bible

Bible App

YouVersion Bible App

These resources help me stay rooted in Scripture, Catholic teaching & daily prayer.

If opening the Bible has ever felt overwhelming… I made this for you. Slowly. Prayerfully.

Make your cafecito, grab your favorite pan dulce, light a candle, open your Bible slowly & remember… the same God who spoke through Scripture, is the same God inviting you to sit with Him now. You are not too late. You are being called closer.

I love you and Jesus loves you more freely and faithfully.
